Press release: JR-Tools Oy launches a new range of carbide drills and end mills
JR-Tools Oy is expanding its range of standard tools with the launch of the new JR-Drill carbide drills and JR-Mill carbide end mills. Known for its special metal cutting tools and tool lifecycle model, the company is now seeking further growth from standard tools. To support the new product launch, JR-Tools will also open an online shop this autumn.
The new range of standard tools complements JR-Tools’ already extensive product portfolio. The JR-Drill carbide drills and JR-Mill carbide end mills represent a new product category for the company.
“This launch is a direct response to requests from our customers. Customers have asked why we could not also supply standard drills and end mills, as we already recondition them,” says Veli-Matti Uusitalo, Sales Director at JR-Tools.
JR-Tools will open a new online shop this autumn, allowing customers to purchase the newly launched standard tools online. In the future, the aim is to enable customers to order customised tools directly through the online shop.
“The idea is that logged-in customers will be able to view their order history and products tailored to them. They could then place their orders directly through the online shop,” Uusitalo explains.

Tool tests deliver strong results
The launch follows a two-year testing period involving several JR-Tools customers. During the tests, customers used tools from the new range in their own production and with various materials. Feedback on the new products has been positive.
“Our long-standing and stable customer relationships have enabled us to carry out testing together with our customers. The results have now given us the confidence to proceed with the official launch,” says Pasi Rönn, CEO of JR-Tools.
According to Rönn, positive feedback on the reconditioning of standard tools from other manufacturers also contributed to developing the new range.
“We regularly receive feedback that standard tools reconditioned by us perform better than the original tools. This has strengthened our confidence in our expertise in this product category as well.”
JR-Drill and JR-Mill complement the tool lifecycle model
JR-Tools’ lifecycle model for metal cutting tools covers services from tool design and manufacturing to tool reconditioning and recycling. In 2025, the company’s lifecycle model received the Circular Economy Act of the Year award in Central Finland. The new standard tool range further complements this comprehensive service offering.
“Machine shops want to source all these services from a single Finnish supplier. We aim to meet this demand,” Rönn says.
JR-Tools has enjoyed a strong year, with revenue expected to grow by at least 20% this year. The company is also continuing to invest in its production capabilities.
“Our next machinery investments are already being planned, and we are actively developing our production. We received ISO 9001 certification in the spring and have also recruited a Quality Manager,” Rönn says.
The company’s order book has remained at a record level throughout the summer.
“Overall, the outlook is very positive. Launching the new product range also gives us an opportunity to pursue further growth,” Rönn concludes.
