Jukka,Logistics Specialist
Working at JR-Tools since 1989

I am responsible for our logistics: packing and receiving goods, sorting the tools that arrive for reconditioning and creating orders. All the tools and other goods that come and go will go through my department. In this job you have to stay alert and react quickly if a client sends us tools that need to be reconditioned urgently. Cooperating with the service car drivers is a big part of my job too – everything needs to be ready when the car leaves in the morning.
I started working at JR-Tools in 1989 and back then my job was to resharpen circular saw blades. I also did manual grinding before I completed the specialist vocational qualification in technology in 2005 with the support of my employer. Since then I have been responsible for our logistics. In my thesis I focused on the lead times of new and reconditioned tools and the results have been used in developing our logistics processes.
A lot has changed since I started working here. Nowadays, all orders are created and later tracked in our production system. In addition to domestic deliveries, we send a lot of orders abroad. Back in 1989, there was only one requirement in the job advertisement: “The applicant should know how to use a manual vernier caliper”.
