Sustainability report 2025
We have published our sustainability report for 2025. It is our first sustainability report prepared in accordance with the EU’s VSME standard, bringing together our actions and metrics relating to the environment, our people and good governance. We have previously published voluntary sustainability reports for 2024 and 2023.

Our first report in accordance with the VSME standard
The VSME (Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs) is the EU’s voluntary sustainability reporting standard for small and medium-sized enterprises. Our report covers the standard’s Basic Module and Comprehensive Module, as well as the reporting period 1 January–31 December 2025.
Reporting is voluntary for us. However, we want to increase the transparency of our operations and respond to the growing sustainability expectations of our customers and partners. A common standard also makes our information more comparable than before.
“Sustainability is not a separate part of the business, but a key competitive factor and a driver of continuous improvement,” says Pasi Rönn, CEO of JR-Tools, in the report.
Award-winning life cycle model reduces tool emissions and delivers cost savings
Our entire business is based on a life cycle model: we offer services covering the entire life cycle of a metal cutting tool, from design and manufacturing to tool reconditioning, PVD coating and tool recycling. When the service life of a tool is extended through reconditioning, fewer new tools are needed. Tool reconditioning and tool recycling reduce emissions and bring cost savings to our customers. The emissions of a reconditioned tool are approximately 10–20 per cent of those of a new tool.
In 2025, our life cycle model received the Circular Economy Act of the Year in Central Finland award.
Highlights of 2025
- We introduced product-specific carbon footprint calculation, so customers can see the carbon footprint of each product on the delivery note of their order.
- 95 per cent of the electricity we purchase is emission-free. We switched to ground-source heating at the end of 2023, and in 2025 we introduced ground-source cooling.
- We invested in two new CNC grinding machines for tool reconditioning: SMP CA7XL and Schneeberger Aries NGP+.
- Our eNPS, which measures employees’ willingness to recommend us as an employer, was 57. This is a very good score in the industrial sector.
The work continues
In the report, we also present our key sustainability metrics, which we are developing step by step. Going forward, our goals include developing our emissions calculation, improving energy efficiency and assessing sustainability in our supply chain more systematically. We are also exploring the introduction of solar power and a full transition to carbon-free electricity.
A warm thank you to our employees, customers and partners for the past year!
